Our Creative Corner: Your Favorite Tim Holtz Technique

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. Here in Miami it is pretty hot, but with stormy weather ahead, it looks like the temperature is going to drop a little bit.

It's been a while since the last time I participated in Our Creative Corner Challenge. This week the challenge is about our favorite Tim Holtz technique. It is a tough decision because I like them all, but to narrow down my selection I have to say that after participating in Creative Chemistry class I love the Custom Stamp Pad Technique. I think that it is so creative and at the same time original. I fell in love with this technique!

For this technique you are going to need Cut-N-Dry stamp pad felt, any stamp (I used the butterfly stamp) but preferably not a solid one, distress reinkers in different colors, archival permanent black ink and white or vanilla cardstock.

First, stamp the image on the Cut-N-Dry stamp pad felt on the fabric side with archival permanent black ink. Then with the reinkers in different colors fill in the image. That is going to work like your ink pad. Wet your stamp on your ink pad and stamp on a cardstock, and your image will be with multiple colors, as many as you put on your ink pad. This is a fun and innovative technique. Hope you like it!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Card Patterns #165 and Embellish Magazine Challenge

Another card for two challenges. This time I combined the sketch of the Card Patterns Challenge and the colors of the  Bicycle Color Trends Challenge. Each time I use a Magnolia image for my cards or any other image to color it in I feel like it made my day, lol. It is like a bow on the present, because when I give color to an image or I grab a brush to do watercolor or any other painting on a card, it is like the cherry on top. It is like I carry my energy through that brush (or colored pencil or whatever I'm using) and I feel happy.

Hope you like my creation today! Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day full of inspiration!

colourQ #137 and Sweet Sunday Sketch #158

It's been a while since I posted a card. I've been pretty busy with my other blog. I updated it and it takes a lot of time to do it. I have to thank my daughter, Carla, who is next to me all the time helping me not only with the blog but also with everything that has to do with technology. Sorry I am not a flash with that. I am learning but I am a slow turtle, lol, but eventually I'll get there.

Besides that, there are some changes, too. They have been posted in my other blog and it is related to the new project I created with my friends, Martha Lucia, Geraldine and Teresa, and it is called "Projects in Spanish" which of course is completely in Spanish. There you are going to find tutorials for sale in inches and centimeters, and full of photos. If you are interested, visit www.proyectosenespanol.com. or go to www.anartistica.blogspot.com to subscribe for only $24.95.

The card I created today is for the colourQ and Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge. As you know how much I love to color in Magnolia images, I decided to color one of those images for these two challenges.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Our Creative Corner and Retrosketches #7

I combined the Our Creative Corner challenge: "Our Boys and Their Toys" with the sketch from Retrosketches #7. The theme for Our Creative Corner challenge is to show the hobby or interest of a man in our life – husband, father, son, brother or another male member of your family. In my case, soccer is the family sport. There is always room for a soccer ball and wherever my boys are, they have fun playing with it. For the Retrosketches challenge, we have to follow the sketch. Hope you like my creation! Have a wonderful weekend!

TOMIC #45- Criss Cross Card & Color Throwdown #187

For this week's TOMIC #45, we have to create a Criss Cross Card and to use a stamp from one of the Magnolia's last collection "Princes & Princesses", or if you don't have any from that collection you can use any stamp related to princes and princesses. DT Silvie graciously created a tutorial on how to create a Criss Cross Card, which makes it easier to create the card. I combined this challenge with the Color Throwdown challenge in which the color combo is Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron and Lavender Lace. Hope you like it! Enjoy!

Freshly Made Sketches #30

This is one of the mini Magnolias that I got lately and I decided to create a card with her for Freshly Made Sketches #30. It is a little bit harder to color it in with Copics but, anyway, it is so much fun to see how she takes life in front of you. I hope you like my creation! Enjoy! Have a great day!

Magnolia Challenge #44

Hope everybody had a Happy Easter! It's been a while since I have participated in the Magnolia Challenge. For one reason or another I couldn't make a card for the past challenges, and this week I had the stamp that the challenge requires and the time to make the card. Woohoo!! I created the card to participate.
Hope you like it! Enjoy!

Mojo Monday #235 and Color Throwdown #186

It has been a while since I participated in Mojo Monday. This week, I combined Mojo Monday and the colors of the Color Throwdown Challenge #186. This is my first time participating in Color Thowdown, but because I love colors, and since I really enjoy when I am able to use the colors of one challenge and the sketch of another, I wanted to participate.

For these two challenges, I decided to create a card with Tilda ready for a party. I colored her in with Copics. Hope you like it! Enjoy!

The Friday Mashup #51 and Retrosketches #4

Again sneaking in under the deadline, lol, but I didn't want to miss these two challenges which I could combine. For The Friday Mashup, the challenge is to create a quilted card and/or something you have forgotten about, and I made a card with both following the sketch of the Retrosketches challenge.

The quilted technique is a technique I have been wanting to make for a long time, and for one reason or the other, I have been putting it off. The paper for the quilt is a Stampin' UP! discontinued design that I loved, purchased and left sitting in my stash for I don't know how long. So the combination of elements fits perfectly in this challenge. Hope you like it! Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by.

Card Patterns Sketch #157

The sketch we have to follow for the Card Patterns Sketch Challenge this week is perfect to be able to use those big stamps that, more than once, you don't know where to place them on the card. I have stamps in my stash that I purchased a long, but I mean a LONG time ago because I liked them in the store, and when I got home I put them in a drawer and they are still there sleeping. I love when I see a card or sketch that inspires me to use one of those stamps I have in that drawer. At least I feel that my stamps become useful.

The chickens in my card are singing Happy Birthday. I know that because I created the scene for that purpose, lol. Hope you feel inspired to use one of those big stamps snoring in your stash, too. Have a wonderful day! Enjoy!

The Paper Players #87 - CAS with buttons from Nance

Hi there! This week The Paper Players Challenge is clean and simple featuring...buttons. I colored in a Greeting Farm stamp with Copics for this card. I can fly to another planet when I am coloring with Copics, or any other medium. I looooove it!!!! Stress free, worries free, chores free, wow how many things I have for free, lol. Just kidding, but I think that you understood my point, my mind and my body are so relaxed when I am painting. And when I am painting an image and I see how it comes alive in front of me, I get so excited.

The border was handmade with a multiliner 0.35. Of course that I added the buttons to finish my card. Hope you like it, and if you haven't tried coloring an image, give it a try! It is so much fun. Don't expect a masterpiece neither your first time nor your second one, but with practice you'll get there.

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Retrosketches #3

Oh my, I almost missed the deadline for the Retrosketches #3 Challenge. Last week I couldn't play and I didn't want that to happen again this week.

So here I am with another Magnolia card. I had colored in the image for another card but as usual, I end up using what I planned to use for one card on another card. Doesn't it happen to you that you start with one idea in mind and when you lay everything out on the card you don't like it, and you start changing almost everything? I enjoy this process of creating a lot, hope you do too.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day. Enjoy!

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #51 (Chupa)

I created this card to participate in Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #51. I love her work and if you haven't gone to her site you can click here and see her beautiful cards. If you go through her blog I am sure you are going to find a card that you like or you may just like all of them. Hope you enjoy her blog as much as I do.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Card Patterns Sketch #156

You don't know how much I enjoy coloring Magnolias with Copics and seeing them come alive in front of me. When I am coloring or painting an image, I lose all track of time. It calms me and allows me to forget about all of the stress of life. I created this card for the Card Patterns Sketch 156. Hope you like it!

Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

TOMIC #39: Tilda's birthday and sketch

Hope you've had a wonderful weekend. Here in Miami we had beautiful weather and today the temperature dropped a little bit, so it makes it even better. I spent the whole weekend catching up with my cards and crafts. I really had a great time working in my studio.

The new Magnolia Challenge is Tilda's birthday in which the words Happy Birthday are mandatory and it has to be girly, with laces, ribbons, glitter and everything that you can define as girly. As you know, I love to color the Magnolia stamps with Copics. I try to do my best coloring, although I need to practice more to get the blending I want. Everything is a matter of practice!

The "Happy Birthday" was stamped on a white cardstock. I cut it out and then poured Crystal Effect, and before the Crystal Effect dried, I added some glitter so that it could get trapped in the Crystal Effect as it dried off. I love the look that this creates.

Hope you like my creation today.

colourQ #126 and Card Pattern Sketch #155

After almost two weeks of being sick, I am back in business. This is my first time participating in the colourQ challenge through this blog!

I decided to participate in the colourQ challenge and the Card Pattern Sketch challenge with this card, with a beautiful Magnolia stamp. I loooove to color in with Copics, and especially Magnolias, that is why I named my blog "Crazy About Magnolias." Magnolias make me smile, giggle, and above all, enjoy the process of coloring.

Hope you like my creation today, and you get inspired to color too. It is so much fun.
Have a wonderful day!

Card Patterns Sketch #152

Organizing my stash, I found this cute bear sleeping on the moon stamp by Peachy Keen. I thought that was wonderful to use for this week's Card Patterns Sketch challenge.

I stamped the image with Memento ink and colored it in with Copics markers. I poured Crystal Effect on the star and while it was liquid, I spread some chunky glitter, so the glitter gets trapped in the Crystal Effect when it dries up. The clouds were free hand drawn-I sponged light blue ink on the edges and added a dazzle of Stickles. Hope you like it!

Card Patterns Challenge #150

Who doesn't want to be treated like a queen for a day? I think that any woman would like that. No chores, no diapers, no drop off or pick up from school, no preparing meals, and the list can go on and on. We deserve to be treated like a queen at least for one day.

So dream of being a queen and enjoy your day! Hope you like my creation, following the sketch of the Card Patterns Challenge.

Makeover Monday Challenge #10

This is my first time participating in the Makeover Monday Challenge. I had this stamp lying in my stash, and I'm so happy I found it because I think the image is so cute for a romantic card.
Hope you like my creation! Enjoy!

Here's the inspiration by Jessica Witty:
